Hello . I’m Maja. I’m originally from Hobart, but have been living in Melbourne for the last four years. I am currently enrolled at La Trobe University doing Honours in Media.
I attended the Oxford Creative Writing Summer School in the July holidays, 2014.
3 adjectives to best describe myself are genius, hilarious and modest.
Punting down the Thames, ghost stories on the streets of Oxford, finding my Canadian soulmate, falling asleep with a book on my face in the fellow’s garden while the sunlight wrapped around me, Pimms and lager and cider galore, scandalous games of truth or dare, reading my work to a group of fellow writers in the Rector’s Lodgings and old friends visiting from across England just to wander the backstreets of Oxford and sit in the park feeding the ducks.
Absolutely do it! It’s so much fun, such a wonderful way to get out there in the big wide world. Especially if you’ve never traveled before, studying abroad is a great way to go overseas without feeling as if you’ve just been dumped in a new country without any idea where to start.
It’s definitely helped me to figure things out with a little more specificity. I wanted to work in television as a writer/director before taking the course, but with the help of my teachers I’ve begun to consider how to approach that – as well as the fact that I want to be working in England in the next five years.
