Week 2 in Charlotte, North Carolina (USA):

We started the day off visiting the fantastic Charlotte Country Day school and the Charlotte Lab School - both fantastic and inspiring schools.  We were treated to an NBA Hornets game, fantastic energy in the stadium - Charlotte won!

We had our first placements this week, which was amazing to be part of an Elementary classroom.  I brought in some vegemite sandwiches and caramello koalas for the students to try - they liked the caramello koalas the best!!  The staff like the Tim Tams that I brought in for them to try more than the vegemite too.  I had to check out the yellow school buses at the end of the day, I think they are so iconic to American schooling!

The weekend came around very quickly and we took the opportunity to visit the Levine Museum of the New South.  Such an fantastic museum, I have to say it was one of the highlights of the trip for me and I highly recommend it.  We followed it up with a visit to a local market (Girl tribe and Dude tribe) held at one of Charlotte’s brewery’s.

Sunday was a free day for us and we decided to make the most of it and see an NFL game. What an experience!  Really needs to be seen to be believed, colour guard, singing of the National Anthem, an airforce flyover and fireworks - all before the game had even started!  A little chilly sitting in the crowd, it reached 5 degrees, but not a problem with all the hot food that was available.  Of course the Carolina Panthers won!  Our second week finished up with more time in the classroom on placement and on campus.
