My name is Olivia Pavy. I am studying Biomedicine at the University of Melbourne, but I am originally from Perth. I went on the Cambridge Science Program in July 2015. Cambridge was absolutely beautiful- I loved getting to know it so well. I made wonderful friends with whom I’m still in touch with.

The lecturers were outstanding – no matter the topic, I was more engaged and intrigued than I’ve ever been before! It certainly made me realise how many wonderful things there are to discover, and that my education can take place anywhere – not just in Australia.

England can be quite expensive (particularly London), so I advise that you plan and book ahead of time. Buy an Oyster card for the tube and remember to show your student card so you save some money! Also, the weather can be mercurial, so bring an umbrella and jumper with you.

I really miss the travelling, culture, friendships and fun-loving moments! The city itself is just so beautiful. it made me appreciate quite how tangible opportunities to make a difference are — so many remarkable things have been created and discovered in Cambridge, by people who are interested and hard working.

At the end of some days, Kesh, our new friends, and I would sit by the River Cam and chat about the different things we’d learnt.

I promise, but you will never regret it. It’s such a fun, rewarding and engaging way to spend part of your holiday. I might see you there!
