Hey! My name is James Kavanagh. I’m from Brisbane and studied a Bachelor of Laws at Griffith University. 3 words that would describe me are ambitious, humorous and friendly.

I just graduated yesterday and I am currently seeking a role in family law. I have already had a couple of interviews, and many interviewees have commented on my studies at Oxford, so I really feel that these overseas programs are something that jump out at employers and make you a unique candidate!

The architecture of the University Colleges at Oxford are amazing. The nightlife in Oxford was definitely a highlight for me, as the beer was great and there seemed to be an endless variety of pubs to choose from, some of which have been around for hundreds of years. The variety of people from across the globe that I had met and were learning from some of the world’s best lecturers, were also aspects of my experience that were quite memorable.

I hope to one day in the near future go back and undertake the International Human Rights Law course at Oxford University, as I aspire to one day become a Human Rights Lawyer.

Definitely do it! It is not only an amazing memorable experience, but an excellent way to diversify your résumé and make yourself standout to employers in a competitive job market. Such a program will not only allow you the opportunity to learn from some of the world’s best lecturers, but also the opportunity to experience a different culture, a different nightlife and the opportunity to meet new people and make life-long friends.
